Broadway on the porch

The stage was decorated with chalk stars.  An i-phone belted out show tunes from the orchestra pit.  The performers were still in their pajamas. 
The show must go on, and it did - ANNIE!

The musical featured an appealing 3-year-old, Emily in the title role; Grace as Miss Hannigan ...and a  Australian / Border Collie mix, Scout as Daddy Warbucks. The heart of the show, as it should be, is Emily’s Annie. The 3-year-old actress showed the vocal chops necessary to sock the songs across, but also the tough pragmatism to command a roomful of heavyweight politicians. Perhaps the most distinguishing element in this production, however, was Scout who also howled out songs (see EXTRA). Their were also some hip-hop dance steps thrown in.

As is usually the case with “Annie,” the young actresses are cuter than a dump truck of plush teddy bears.
