1638 heads Wealden Pullman into Tenterden
A learning turn in Tenterden Town signalbox on a busy Sunday timetable on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. In addition to the usual service the Wealden Sunday Lunch Pullman was running.
This is the first Sunday service I’ve worked in this box and it is essential to work this turn as my passing out turn in September will be on a Sunday timetable. More shunting, engines and runarounds than the normal day. All went well and we finished on time. More knowledge and experience banked away.
The Sunday lunch train was full as usual, by the time it reached Tenterden diners were getting stuck into puddings, which, by the looks of it they were thoroughly enjoying.
Today’s blip is of Pannier Tank 1638 as it passes the box with the up Wealden Pullman. I had been working the levers while the duty signalman was collecting the tablet from the fireman.
