Tiny fly
Despite a very sore knee I went for a very interesting evening walk to Woods Mill, this evening with HNHS.
It was very still, and a bit overcast and dull so there weren't many insects flying, but those we did see were really interesting.
I really loved this tiny orange fly with beautiful greenish eyes, because it was so small (about 6mm ) most people would just pass it by, but in macro it is quite interesting. I have no idea what species it is, so any suggestions as to id would be most welcome. I have added an extra shot of it with a 7-spot ladybird to give some idea of size in my extras.
The highlight of the evening though was hearing the gentle purr of the Turtle doves on the way back to the car park, such a rare pleasure.
