Changing scenery

Day 4: Namibia

Today we set off south to visit Fish River Canyon. We started off with very little vegetation, then we came across an area that had a dam/reservoir, where they were growing date palms and there was a huge vineyard. It was then back to desert conditions again.

We drove for many kilomètres on dirt roads, main photo, stopping off at a cafe in the middle of nowhere for coffee and cake. It was run by a South African couple, who had given up on farming the land (cattle and sheep) due to constant droughts, and now have a few rooms for tourists. It was a welcome break in the journey.
