Executing the Executioner

Another fine forecast meant we had to make an attempt to bag Mrs AB’s final Skye Munro. Parking at Sligachan, the site of Saturday’s hill race, we were on the summit of Am Basteir (The Executioner) by 9.30am. The whole ridge was ours.

The advertised ‘bad step’ halfway along the summit ridge was much trickier than my first ascent in 1991 due to rockfall and the passage of many thousands of boots, but we negotiated it without too much hassle.

Home in time for lunch, some way to spend Monday morning!
