Walking Wombat

Sabine!

Our friend Sabine has always been a good sport and she knows that I try to blip a photo every day. I think it’s a pretty good buddy who will let you take a photo of them in hospital :). CCN was keen to see our friend who was admitted to Katoomba Hospital late last Saturday night with a fractured pelvis.....ouch!! She is now in rehabilitation and was just about to get stuck into her book again when we walked in. It’s hard for Sabine to get some “Me” time in hospital because all of her friends keep popping in. The largest group of visitors occurred when the entire Heathens Choir arrived, the whole 17 of them and serenaded her. CRIKEY, that’s impressive.

I have to tell you about Sabine and Myra. I have known them almost since the day I arrived in Blackheath in 1999 and was living out at Wombat Hollow in the caravan during the construction phase. They used to live half way between the block and Blackheath and would regularly call me in the afternoon to see what I was doing for dinner. Not only would they invite me to have dinner with them, they would tell me to bring the doggies, bring my washing and dishes that needed washing and a bath towel so I could have a shower at the same time the washing was in the machine. No I’m not joking. We still laugh about it now and they are two of the most loyal friends a girl could have. When CCN and I made our commitment to each other way back in 2003, Myra and Sabine were with us at the time. 15 years later when we decided to get married we knew the person we would want to perform the ceremony was Sabine, lucky for us she agreed because in the meantime she had become a Celebrant.

So you can see we go back a long, long way. They are still looking out for us and always help us when they can. It’s friends like Myra and Sabine in the mountains that made us decide that this is where we want to be.
Happy to say our friend was in good spirits today and hopefully will be all mended and home safe and sound very soon.

I have added three extras tonight. The first one is for my blip buddy from California- Wildwood. Here’s the awning with the roof on Jen. The other two are a couple I took of the completed bathroom, well almost completed, I just have to get cracking and paint the walls. We decided on a British Paints colour - Wollemi Pine.

I hope all of my blip buddies have had a wonderfully fulfilling weekend.
