MacDonald District Bungalow

Lest I forget that Santa Rosa is a rather old town with its own grand old mansions, I suggested to OilMan that we take Ozzie for a walk through the MacDonald District where the founders of the town built their homes. The wide streets and leafy precincts, pristine gardens and well kept lawns make it a pleasant place for a walk with an old dog in need of level footing and new smells. I enjoy the individuality and grand style of many of the homes in this district and while this one is neither the most dignified or the grandest, its expansive porch and immaculately tended rose gardens, not to mention its wonderful paint job,  captured my fancy. I put a couple of other examples in extras....

And if you care for a look at the grande dame of the district, here is the original  MacDonald Mansion, Mableton built in 1877, and now listed on the national Register of Historic Places.

Today is my seventh anniversary on Blipfoto. I don't wish to sound like a broken record, but I DO want to acknowledge all the wonderful people I have met here, particularly Lady Findhorn whose insistence that I join could not be resisted when I saw her in person on a visit to Edinburgh seven years ago.

Sometimes the world seems like a hostile, troubled, misguided place, but there is always Blipfoto to put things in perspective. Sometimes challenges seem insurmountable, but there is always someone with a kind word or a bit of sound advice. It bears repeating that everyone I have met here has become a true friend even though most of us have never met. I am grateful for every one of you, and for all the people who have volunteered their time and money for this place to continue and to thrive. Thank you.
