If only dogs could talk

Just now, on our afternoon walk, while going through tall grass, Laney yelped and sat down to scratch her left ear. This led to more yelping and whimpering. Then I tried to look in her ear, but she flinched away.
Since we live next door to a vet hospital, that was still open for one more hour today, we stopped in there on the way home for a walk in appointment. As we were waiting our turn an emergency came in and we were dismissed until Monday.
So now we are home, Laney is tilting her head and won’t let me near, but at least she is not whimpering anymore. My thought is that she got stung by a bee and is starting to feel better.
