Food & Drink Festival....

...at Priory Farm, Nutfield today. Lots of pickles, cheeses, sauces, honey etc for food and cooking enthusiasts! Some wines, gins, liqueurs and juices too.

One gin was called Mermaid Gin, from the Isle of Wight distillery and was first called Mermaid Kiss for its rock samphire ingredient. The samphire was said to be the first thing that touched the lips of shipwrecked sailors when they reached the shore and so welcoming, just like a kiss from a mermaid! The bottle, in my extra, is such a beautiful design!

Mermaid Gin uses an infusion of carefully selected botanicals including Juniper Berries, rock samphire that is hand-picked from the Island’s chalk cliffs and Boadicea hops grown at the famous Ventnor Botanic Garden. Along with English coriander seeds, fresh lemon zest, angelica root, liquorish root, orris root, elderflower and grains of paradise.

We were grateful for the MG today, roof and windows down, and my totally indulgent gift to myself!

It was wonderful to sit in the shade in the garden when we got home, with my book and a cold drink. A hot but beautiful summer's day.
