A Near Miss

Such a grey rainy day today. The forecast was mixed but lately I think each day just makes up it's mind on a whim as to what it's going to do.

What do you mean 'lately'? The weather 'always' does this!

I'd resigned myself to a wet sock blip. It's been 1 year to the day since I got my hands on a DSLR and to celebrate it, I was going to have to proffer a wet sock on a red cushion.

But... as the daylight hours were closing I glanced out of the window and spotted blue sky! The moor and my usual haunts would be saturated, like giant muddy sponges, but Yeadon Tarn has an asphalt path and was within easy reach.

It was grey when we got there, but it was dry and it was airy. Fresh air by the waterside for a few minutes is often enough to revive you. A circuit round and the day remained grey but as we got to the end with the intention of heading back to the car there was a glimmer of crimson. Just a hint of glow above a cloud. If we'd got to the tarn 5 minutes earlier then by now we'd be in the car and amongst suburbia, oblivious.

But instead we lingered as the colour developed and reflected in the tarn, and for a few moments the colours deepened and gave me my photo.

I was at a blipmeet last night so didn't get the chance to put yesterday's blip on until this morning. It was brilliant to meet up with local Blippers again, Rachel, Peter, Bob, Wendy and Jeanne (who I've never met before and it was a delight to finally say hello). Jeanne hit 1000 blips yesterday and it's Wendy's 3 year blip today - congratulations to them both :o) Bob calculated on his blip today that between us we've posted 4708 blips without a break!
