Wide Wednesday: Transport
This spacecraft landed with some commotion into our garden this afternoon. Should I be reporting it to MI6 and/or the FBI as a UFO? (Or maybe reporting to George Lucas would be more appropriate...?!)
The YT-1300 Corellian light freighter, manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, was essentially a giant "forklift" designed to tug around giant container ships. As one of the most successful designs in history, the appeal of the vessel is not its basic equipment, but its modular ability to take an extraordinary amount of modifications and alterations. Its popularity amongst freighter captains throughout the galaxy guaranteed commercial operation in the galaxy during the final days of the Galactic Republic and the reign of the Galactic Empire. (So it was clearly designed to transport people and materials around the universe.)
Many thanks to Freyjad for hosting Widwed at the moment.
(If you're one of the rare folk who don't recognise it, it's the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars, piloted here by Han Solo and Chewbacca. As seen in the films it was a heavily modified YT-1300 freighter.)
