Bridge Tender House

Yesterday, I blipped a photo showing our new bridge in the background with a bench and plaque recognizing the old swing bridge and those who were operators.
Today’s blip shows the Tender House with part of the actual swing bridge in the foreground. Look closely and you’ll see the under structure with cables which, when put in motion by the Tender, allowed the bridge to swing open an closed. It was motorized but required a person to operate the action.
A committee was formed to save the old bridge. They raised the necessary funds to save it and it now stands in an area not far from the original location. It has become an attraction and includes a small store with memorabilia for sale. It’s open four days a week and run by all volunteers.
