Camouflaged seal
After enjoying the morning watching the few dolphins that turned up we headed off for an afternoon's adventure. We went in search of other wildlife - a trip to Portgordon/Buckie to find the seals. We did find them, though they were very skittish when they saw us. It was high tide so they had a thin sliver of beach to rest on. I like the way this one blends in with the sand so well!
We then went to a wonderful Loch, Loch Spynie near Lossiemouth, hoping to see red squirrels, but not today. Did see lots of woodpeckers, a jay, several tits, chaffinch etc on the feeders and many terns, black headed gulls, swans etc on the loch. The hide was well attended by many locals who appear to pop down regularly, to ensure the feeders are kept full. They were very entertaining with all their tales. Extra - very vocal black headed gull.
