Stopover in Carlisle
RF made the brave decision to stay with our holiday plans and leave today despite being very full of coughs and cold.
Our journey today was to Carlisle for a night in an apartment within a converted mill building. She didn't sit in the passenger seat and sleep, which I had expected, but navigated around the worst of the hold ups on the M6 like a true professional.
On arrival we dumped bags in the delightful apartment and then went for a walk along the River Caldew and to the area around the cathedral which is very pretty. Photos are of an old house in cathedral square and the cathedral itself.
The apartment owner had recommended a pub/ restaurant which was in an old monastery building. We both had a very nice meal there then walked back under clear blue skies.
