Purple poppies in the sun
It's a small world! Unbeknown to us, last night our friend Andrea sat near to holidaymakers Janet B and her husband Roy at a pub quiz in Belford. They got talking and, apparently, the subject of Morris dancing came up. Which somehow led to our names being mentioned. Before we moved north, MrM and I worked with J in Wakefield. Andrea shared my mobile number and J texted - what a nice surprise, as we'd lost touch over the years. It was very good to see them when they popped in for coffee this afternoon.
MrM's gone to Leith to play with the jazz band this evening. Had intended to walk up to the Common straight after he'd left, but made the mistake of sitting down for half an hour. Then it was a bit of an effort to force myself out of the door, but it was worth it. Good to be out on a glorious, sunny evening (and it made the little man in the step counter deliriously happy for the second time this week)! The poppies were by the path. There was a red squirrel on the feeder - thought at first that it was the same one as 2 days ago, but on comparing photos, maybe not. Today's squirrel, also a female, has the remains of tufts on its ears. A little too dark in the woods for decent photos, but there's one as an extra for the sake of comparison.
An appropriate day for English Heritage to launch their Stonehenge Skyscape website. Happy Summer Solstice!
