Lost at Sea
Today's the day ....................... for another sculpture
To make up for yesterday, here's another sculpture - wooden this time - to be found in Kirkcudbright Harbour. It depicts a mother and child and was created by local artist Charlie Easterfield in 1994. It is inscribed 'In Memory Of Loved Ones Lost At Sea'.
It serves as a reminder of the precarious lives of those who put out to sea to earn a living. There have been two fishing tragedies from the town, the trawler Mhari-L lost with all five hands in 1995 - and the Solway Harvester lost with all seven hands in 2000 ...……………..
