Moffat Ram

Today's the day …………………….. to mess up

There's a couple of reasons why this is not a very good picture of the statue of the ram in the centre of the little town of Moffat in the Scottish Borders.

The first is that the weather was very dreary today as I drove back home from Edinburgh.  Everything was grey including the ram - and it was drizzling with rain.  The second is that (unbeknown to me) my camera was on completely the wrong setting for a good quality picture.  So there we have it.  As they seem to say all the time these days - 'it is, as it is'.

The only thing I can tell you about the Moffat Ram is that it was by William Brodie and it commemorated the fact that Moffat was a notable market in the wool trade.  It was presented to the town by William Colvin, a local businessman, in 1875. Apparently, the ram's ears are missing, as they have been since it was first presented.

Sounds like someone else messed up too …………………….
