Day 23: around Barra (3)
Finally, on the very last day of our holiday in the Outer Hebrides, it's warm enough to go for a swim! Mr hazelh was considering this at breakfast this morning, but it was the determination of another guest to take a dip that persuaded him into the water. His companion was Regula from Switzerland, as seen in the extra. We all got on so well together that the three of us also shared a table at dinner this evening.
Also today we visited the Castlebay thrift shop, taking advantage of its very limited opening hours of Saturday and Tuesday afternoons. Regrettably, however, no purchases were made. While we were in 'town' we also stopped for lunch at the Kisimul café. We returned to the beach again this afternoon to watch the waves and read books. (I finished Our house by Louise Candlish - highly recommended.)
There was no time for Scrabble today so I will have to take my revenge on Mr hazelh when on the boat to Oban in the morning.
STOP PRESS! I have also included a second extra. This is of the spectacular sunset visible from our bedroom window, which appeared as I was typing up this journal entry.
Exercise today: tiny amount of cycling and walking.
