On the inside, looking out

I timed my visit to the rose garden perfectly. Today it is a shocking 98F/37C, and I'm sure the roses are wilting and withering in the heat. While I was delighted to be home among the roses on Monday, I woke Tuesday to the terrible news that despite danger of heat stroke to people living outside, the City of Portland has decided not to open cooling centers where people who have no air conditioning can escape the heat and have access to water and toilets. There is so much work to do.
