Kendal Castle

A cloudy day

We set out to go to the Castle but discovered Google shortest Walk was much steeper than we imagined. Still, we made it. It was breezy but as well as the Castle there were great views all round Kendal and the hills beyond.

The Castle wasn’t a military one but a fortified home built in Medieval times. The Barons of Kendal lived there and dispensed justice in the great Hall. Catherine Parr, who became Henry VIII’s wife was associated with these families.
