My Magic Kingdom

Beer-battered Fried Fish & Salad

After a long morning we decided to go back to the Food Lover's Market for lunch again today. At least this time I remembered to take a photo first before I ate my delicious meal. I think this is turning out to be my favourite summer meal!

We went to the Home Affars office today to apply for ID books for my teenagers and new passports for my youngest boys. It is always a big deal because these places are usually very busy and inefficient. We must have chosen a good day because we were only there for about 2 hours!

The kids were in hysterics taking their photos at a hawker photo booth on the pavement outside while across the road some goats were feeding off the trees. We were in Wynberg, which is adjacent to Alexandra township. This suburb is filled with informal settlements together with low cost residential homes and small factories and businesses. Not the safest neighbourhood, so I didn't have my camera handy, but the most convenient. Its location 5 minutes from the wealthy suburb of Sandton has often been described as the mink and manure belt!

If you are interested, here is some more information aboutAlexandra. I have also found some Images of Alexandra as I am unable to take photos like this myself.

A lesson in the haves and have nots is very "in your face" in South Africa! Take a peep at what Kendall had to say about it in her Blip.
