Ramblings from Zambia....

Solitaire....

on our way back to Windhoek we stopped off at Solitaire for its famous apple pie (which was delicious), then paid a visit to a nearby cheetah sanctuary.  Most cheetahs in Namibia are in farms rather than in the national parks.  Today we saw a female cheetah who had been rescued when orphaned.  She has 6 cubs which are doing really well.  We were able to get quite close to them and observe their behaviour!  Amazing animals but I still prefer Leopard!

The scenery round us was stunning as you can see in the extra.

Back to Windhoek late afternoon.  Its been a fabulous week - really enjoyed being back in the desert after almost 20 years!  Lots of changes - lots of development in terms of tourism which has advantages and disadvantages, but the sheer beauty of the area never ceases to amaze me.

Arrived in Windhoek and had decent wifi which is how I managed to upload these photos!  However, I also got an email from Air Namibia to tell me that instead of leaving for Lusaka at 8am tomorrow I am leaving at 4pm!!  The plus side is that I can have a lie in!!!  I backblipped the last couple of days as I didn't have internet and was too tired in the evenings to even look at the hundreds of pictures I took!
