Folkestone

We took a drive out this morning, an extra test drive for the new car. We made for Folkestone, and ended up at the harbour. We’ve not been here for at least 20 years and how it has changed! The main picture (couple of extras too) is of the restored train station. Built originally in 1850 to provide transport from the ships to London, it was used extensively through the early part of the 20th century, especially during war time. With the advent of passenger ferries to France it provided links between London and Paris. It was closed in 2000 when the Channel Tunnel and easy travel between the two countries meant the ferries remained unused. In 2014 it was restored with grants from various charities and what a great job they have done.

Mr L had a bowl of jellied eels (yuk) and we drove home to face the usual housekeeping.....cleaning, laundry and dog walking etc.

Britain’s Got Talent final did not live up to expectations, with the exception of the two guest acts, Diversity and Susan Boyle. There was more talent around ten years ago!
