object of desire

As part of the ongoing process of decluttering, some of the things we no longer need or want find their way onto eBay and usually I photograph all their details in a businesslike way. I did the same for this old piece of bike kit (a 1980s rear mech to those who care about such things) but the more I looked at it from all angles, the more I realised that it is beautifully designed and made, and I decided to do a proper arty pic of it for fun. (Also a good way to relax after work..).

The Nuovo Record derailleur was introduced in 1966 and Eddy Merckx used it for his first 4 Tour de France victories.

I did a bit of research into Campagnolo components and found that there are a lot of people out there who share my view of good design. So maybe this particular piece of kit will soon be sold :-)
