Riding, at last (Day 1480)

A customer called me last night, asking me to go and sort their loo this morning. My plans for a bit of a lazy morning were shelved.
The morning woofer wander up the hill was dry for a change and Talisker had a great time chasing a rabbit. After breakfast, I zoomed into town to do a bit of shopping. Babs was on the checkout today and remarked that I was in the shop really early, before deducing what I would be doing later from the contents of the shopping basket. From there I headed for the plumbers' merchant to pick up bits for the loo repair. I had to hang around and wait for them to open, and it was a bit later than I would have liked by the time I arrived at the job in Stromness. Typically the job wasn't straightforward and took a couple of hours to deal with.
Short of time for my cunning plan I headed home, and got stuck in to doing the baking Babs had suspected I would be doing. Hummingbird cake, mixed up and out of the oven in around an hour without reducing the kitchen to a bombsite, put the plan closer to being on track.
The cake cooled whilst I wandered the woofers at Lyde, and was ready for icing and "decoration" when I got back home. I mixed up the sugary goop and splurged it between the layers of cake, then on the top. Chopped pecans finished the "decoration", and I had time for a quick clear up of the kitchen before zooming through to the yard to meet up with my beautiful wife and a ride out on the horses. It is ages since I have managed to get out a ride and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We even managed a couple of canters today without me being scared witless.
Back at home later HV seemed rather pleased with her après birthday cake.
