Poppies

Passed these on my way to work.  Glorious sight!  I love poppies, and it's good to see there are more and more in the fields again nowadays, after they had seemingly almost been eradicated.

Worked late yesterday evening, drove home in the beautiful blood-orange sunset and saw a hovering kestrel silhouetted against the red sky, a huge barn owl swooping across the road, a muntjac chomping away at the long grass of the verge, a tawny owl crossing the road just up from the house (I think it's the one I hear calling sometimes - I've seen it there before) and finally, when I was almost home, 5 hares in the field.  At this time of year there are compensations to having to work evenings!
