Christmas Tree in Martin Place
The tree is now complete!
This is, I guess, the heart of Sydney. Martin Place used to be a street open to vehicle traffic, but it is now a pedestrian mall only. It is the focus of Anzac Day and Remembrance Day celebrations, and many other civic functions. The left of this photo is the old GPO (general post office) building, though it has now been converted into a five-star hotel, restaurants and boutiques. Post offices don't need the space they used to, it seems!
The tree's focus is on charity, and giving to those less fortunate, at a time when most of us are spending lots on things we don't really need.
