Salvage

There's a long run that I particularly enjoy that involves going up out of Chorley through a place called White Coppice, then along the edge of the reservoir before crossing it and running down to Addlington where I pick up the canal for a few miles.

To be honest, the canal stretch can be a little boring although I saw far more runners than usual along there, today, possibly a dividend of the recent Chorley 10k. Just as I was getting to where the M61 crosses over the canal, I saw this motorbike that appears to have been lifted out of the water. I only stopped long enough to take this photo but even if I'd hung around, I doubt I could have worked out how old it was or how long it had been submerged. I wonder whether someone is coming back to collect it? In fact, I wonder who found it and how they got it out?

Later in the afternoon, after I'd recorded the radio show, I went into the town centre where I met up with Dom, Dean, and Simon at the Ale Station for an overdue welcome to the north for Dean, who moved up to Blackpool from London earlier this year. It was a lovely afternoon, feeling pleasantly achey after my run, sipping my wine, and enjoying the fun but easy company of people who, I realise, are becoming old friends.
