Forest Walk

Took a walk through part of the New Forest today, but these residents I spotted near Cadnam really had little time for me.
Ponies roam free in the Forest, and whichever part you choose to explore you cannot miss them.
Did you know there are reckoned to be around 5,000 of them, and although they do roam freely, all of them are owned by local people known as New Forest Commoners who have the right to allow ponies and cattle to graze there. These rights date back to the days of William the Conqueror who made the Forest a private hunting ground, and are the reason that open heath and grassland within the National Park are so neat and tidy.
They look tame enough, but a word of warning - don’t try to feed them. They do kick and have a viscous bite. It is also against the law to feed them, and you could end up with a fine!
