Temporary Home

A pair of wood pigeons have been trying, not very successfully, to build a nest in the top of our apple tree the last few days, mainly resulting in a scattering of twigs in the grass below. However, this morning they had managed to build a somewhat flimsy and precarious structure which the female sat in all morning while the male fussed around bringing more twiggy offerings to supplement the nest.

Sadly, by this afternoon they appeared to have given it up as a bad job.

While this was happening, Kate & Sophie came over for a swim, we met up with Chris at the outdoor pool, then repaired for lunch at Wetherspoon's.

This afternoon Sophie rode her bike down to the park for a play before they all went home and we sat and enjoyed some unpredicted sun in the garden.
