Day 2. Mopeds

The roads in Saigon are full of mopeds and as I mentioned yesterday it's chaotic and crazy. The thought of cycling here was therefore a bit daunting. Fortunately we were not setting off from the city itself.

About an hour out of the city on the bus we were given our bikes. Saddles swapped and adjustments made, we set off on a fabulous ride.

There were so many things too look at and lots of people shouting hello. We stopped at 10km to watch rice paper being made, and again at 20km for fruit and water before arriving at the Cu Chi tunnels at 30km.

The tunnels were really interesting and we all experienced crawling into and through them. There is probably so much more to tell but the day was so full of interesting things

After lunch at the tunnels we headed back along the crazy roads. Saw many more things being carried on mopeds which would be more suited to a truck. Saw lots of Santas on mopeds; last minute shopping?

This evening we met up with Derek's brother Colin for a drink or three. He then dropped us at a Japanese restaurant where we had an amazing Christmas feast. There was no easing of the mopeds outside, in fact they seem to be cramming more in.

I don't have enough words, or photos, here to do the day justice. If it carries on like this I will have to move away from one photo a day. Inn also too tired to think.

Happy Christmas!
