BANDED DOTTEREL (Charadrius bicintus)
Not a hugely successful image of a Banded dotterel (its quite heavily cropped) but a heads up for those interested in the little flock of them that are currently at our Christchurch Estuary.. These birds are endemic and reasonably common but not easy to Photograph in an estuary setting. They dart hither and thither feeding on little crabs and the like. there are about 50 of them feeding currently along Humphries Drive.
