NZ SHOVELER (Anas rhynchotis )

I dont go for ducks much but was surprised to to see several NZ Shovelers on the Linwood Canal today.  They are an endemic bird ( meaning only found in NZ) and are reasonably common but not in flowing rivers, .This is a  male which is the more colourful of the two.  I only saw males today.
