Turkey & Chicken
This morning was spent into going into Norwich to collect our turkey and to finish of a last few bits and pieces of Christmas shopping. I kept talking to people in French by accident... oops. I miss the French language already. And how small Le Puy is... made Norwich feel pretty big. Braved Tesco with my Mum, never a good idea, it's enough to make anyone feel claustrophobic and the amount of food people were buying, just incredible (ridiculous...)! Rewarded my survival with a mocha and carrot cake - a treat from my neighbour Margaret who had taken us into town.
Reunited with Cressida and Clare in the afternoon. It never ceases to amaze me how normal things are even though we've been apart for 14 weeks. Good catch up on gossip and a lovely cup of English tea. Old friends give such good perspective, know you better than yourself.
In the evening I set to making a good English roast for the family (Nanny and Uncle Ian) who arrived this afternoon. Chicken, and pigs in blankets, roast potaotes and parsnips, cauliflower cheese, stuffing, carrots and brocoli. That's a taste of home, even if I was the one to cook it. An evening of wrapping and conversations more serious than I intended. Being home is going to pose it's own challenges, that's for sure.
