Claire and Roxy by an industrial waymark.
A very good day for the first leg of the Hadrian's Wall walk from Wallsend to Heddon-on-Wall. My niece Claire is doing the full distance for dementia UK and I'm accompanying her for the first and final legs. Looks like she's hit it really lucky for the weather after the past week or two. The first section was a good workout and I would imagine the easiest, as it is flat nearly all the way by the banks of Tyne, except for a sharp upswing to Heddon for the final mile.
The waymarks enroute look rather like industrial totem poles. I suppose that could be fitting for building from the Roman era to the industrial revolution. Looking forward to the contrasts of the walk on the last day.
