New Hall Mill. Open Day.
We had an hour out at the Mill this afternoon.
It was enough for me, after a busy time yesterday, but lovely to be there. There were lots of families in the grounds and gardens, having picnics and browsing round the stalls which were manned by locals.
A lovely atmosphere and typically English.
The mill wheel was at the back, by the still mill pond, and encased in a small brick outbuilding which was open at the side revealing the gallons of cascading water flowing over and over in a swooshing splashing show of energy.
The Mill was also open to view inside with lots of information and demonstrations. The grinding creaking machinery was threshing and crushing the grain, before it is ground at the end.
The flour produced is 100% wholemeal.
Hubby bought a fresh ground pack in order to make some bread.
We then had a short stroll in the grounds, photo in extra.
