Diary of an Edinburgher

Scones

A bit of a slow start this morning, though I did manage half an hour on the bike, and JR did a gym session. Then Archie and I sat in the front garden watching JR working - planting more some fresh wee white flowers. It was sunny and warm.

I got two loads of washing out, and when Archie had gone out with Elizabeth, we took a load of wood burner related stuff to Jordan. There was a big bag of kindling and assorted logs and the coal bucket etc. I even managed to persuade him to take the thingie for making briquettes out of mushed up newspapers. I remember it takes absolutely AGES to make them, and then to dry them. I realised it wasn’t really worth it. Hope he's not reading this...

We got a park (really busy where he lives) and so popped up for a cuppa and to see wee Isobel. She was dozing, and has put on a little weight. They know other new parents, of course, and compared to some of them, they're getting off lightly because she sleeps well at night. What a super flat they have too. And only a few steps from our favourite pub - Montpelier's.

After that we popped to the garden centre to get some more wee white plants, and perchance, have a cuppa and a scone. I congratulated the waitress on the absence of muzak, and she agreed it wasn’t appropriate, but they have no control over it, or the volume. Maybe they've come to their senses. Or it's broken.

Home in time to see the Heineken Cup rugby final, and I had some very yummy nibbles using an assortment of fillings from last night. Perfect.
