Refreshing
This morning I decided that I didn't want to go into work so I took myself off for a coffee at the red barn and then headed for Lake Rotoiti (Nelson Lakes National Park).
At the Rotoiti turnoff the cars that I'd been stuck behind turned off too, and I felt I didn't want to sit behind them being frustrated by their poor driving any longer (of course I'm the only decent driver in the world), so I stopped at Kawatiri Junction and did the old railway walkway. One of those short walks that I've always intended to do and never got around to.
It wanders through beautiful native bush and was a really lovely walk. What should have taken me about 20 minutes ended up taking an hour, because I had to keep pausing to take photos and listen to the birds.
Eventually I headed up to the lake, where Kiwilizzie and Dumbledorian met me for a walk along the lake edge. This is taken looking roughly towards the head of the lake. I like the two wee white fluffy could setting off that amazing blue sky. And those two sticks that someone has so carefully planted there. I've literally only cropped a little foreground out of this - colour untouched.
I thought it was hot enough at the lake, but the closer I drove to home the higher the mercury rose. Murchison stars again with the hottest temperature in the country! For someone who DOESN'T like the heat, I really wonder why I live here in summer!
Feel more refreshed when surrounded by the water.
NB: Apparently you all sent my wee waxeyes yesterday to spotlight - it must have been the quickest visit ever as by the time I got the notification they were gone again - but thank you anyway! :-)
