September, Strangely

Meet Strangely Doesburg, a local performance artist who "blends interactive circus performance, music, and storytelling," according to his website. He's one of several buskers who brilliantly entertain folks of all ages at the Bellingham Farmers Market. Today was the last market of the 2012 season, and it was great to see Strangely enjoying the day like everyone else there (it was too wet and windy to busk). He's also the star of the September page of the new 2013 Bellingham Farmers Market calendar.

Strangely doesn't limit his talented performances to this corner of the United States -- he recently did a "European Invasion," which included Iceland, as well as Ireland and France. You can read more about it here.

Having spent four decades sitting at a desk and writing what must have added up to hundreds of thousands of words on a typewriter/word processor/computer in major medical centers and an academic school of music, I find Strangely's career choice a fascinating contrast!
