Surprise solo (Day 1463)

The plan this morning was a trip to town to see a customer, collect a few bits from the plumbers' merchant, and visit the motorbike shop to discuss a bit of work needed on my bike.
I couldn't see the customer as they weren't at home, so I made my way to the bike shop where I was surprised to see a really old bike. It was first registered in 1929 to a lady in Kirkwall. A lovely bit of history and worthy of a spot as an extra today. Dave and I had a blether about bike stuff, organised a sort of time for me to take the bike in, and I left surprised at the low price I was quoted for the work.
Next up, the plumbers' merchant where bits were collected, orders placed, and quotes queried. A call out to a customer in Stromness curtailed my visit.
The Stromness job was to change an immersion heater in a hot water cylinder. The cylinder was really old and I didn't rate my chances of getting the immersion out without damaging the cylinder, but surprisingly but came out remarkably easily.
Back home for a late lunch with my beautiful wife then a trip across to the yard for a ride out in the sunshine. George's owner arrived just before we left the yard, and it was good to have a blether. Unfortunately it seems that HV's hoss has picked up a bit of a slow puncture in one her front tyres and after only a few yards HV turned back to the yard whilst George and I carried on solo. He was mostly really good, though I couldn't get him past a field full of cattle. The cattle have only just been let out and were a bit exuberant. George didn't like that, so we took another route back to the yard.
All in all, it has been a good day. The best bit is that HV is home and we have a small mountain of cheese and biscuits to work our way through after dinner.
