Allium Nectarascordum Scilicum
At the weekend I inadvertently broke a stem from this allium. I popped it into some water and stood it on the windowsill. Up until yesterday evening all those tiny buds were tightly enclosed by the paper like case which you can see on the right. This morning I noticed that it had started to open out.
It is quite an unusual plant and I love it. If you would like to know what it looks like when it is open there is one that I blipped in 2015 here. Eventually after flowering each tiny stem becomes upright and bunched together so it is a plant that looks good in bud, in flower and also when it has died.
