AMSTERDAM....

..... we hit the road on a bus this morning to search out Amsterdam.

On arrival around midday, with the aid of a Google printout (thanks to the son in law) we negotiated our way to our accomodation. Quite funny at the station trying work the machine to buy a ticket, while we were "fumbling" our way - ended up helping about three other tourist do the same!

Anyway, arrived without a hitch, booked in, then headed out to search the wonders of Amsterdam. Took about three trams to generally see the setup, walked some looking around, and ended up at the Central Station (in extra) on the Harbour which is quite large taking cruise ships and many river cruise boats (extra 2).

Had some tucker overlooking the mass of bike movement - let me tell there are bikes everywhere - extra 3 is just a "small" example - there are even old barges docked on the harbour used as bike "parks" - quite an eye opener.

We took a canal cruise which was superb, with commentary on the history of Amsterdam. The one stat which I found interesting and shows the ability of the Dutch - the second extra Harbour water level is claimed as 6 metres below sea level apparently!

The main pic I have chosen is the only canal where you can see all seven bridges on this canal lined up.

We then wandered our way back to catch some sleep, and caught the sunset from our room.

Thankfully wi-fi not bad so may even catch up some back blips while here... maybe!!??
