Knowing me, knowing you

I found this pair in our local furniture recycling charity store. Two faces carved on one block of wood, with a vertical hole through it. I'm guessing it may have been part of a large piece of household furniture such as a staircase. It's signed 'Bjorn' on one side, so I've decided that's the name of the chap, in which case his partner has to be Agnetha. 
Ah-haa...
