Mural in Holland Park
These murals, commissioned by The Friends of Holland Park, show an imaginary scene of one of the garden parties held by the Earl of Illchester in the grounds of Holland House in the 1870's. They were painted by Mao Wen Biao between April 1994 and May 1995. My extras show an impression of how the house looked in 1870 and the rear view today, part of which is now a Youth Hostel .
We went up to Kensington to collect my new reading glasses and had a walk round Holland Park before coming home. Feeling really tired today, possibly after the long and sad but amazing day yesterday....or after a wonderful dinner in the evening at a Rick Stein restaurant in Putney...because it had also been my birthday yesterday....
