Garden of the Gods
I had just fallen asleep last night when my phone "dinged" and woke me up. It was a text message saying my flight would be delayed for an hour this morning, so I got to sleep a little longer. Landed in Denver pretty much on time, and met up with Mary & Joyce. After grabbing some breakfast we drove to Colorado Springs, pausing at an overlook to watch the Air Force cadets parachuting out of planes near the Air Force Academy (first extra), and then on to the Garden of the Gods, where we met up with StillandKnow (Susie) The four of us spent about 2 1/2 hours walking the paths here. Such beauty everywhere we looked! From there we went to see the Manitou Cliff Dwellings which were amazing (second extra), then we were going to take a look at the Old and established Broadmore Hotel.....however, since we weren't guests there, the guard sent us back out with instructions to use the parking structure for the peons down the road and said we could walk back and take a look around if we wanted, but we decided the view from the front was sufficient, so left to get some dinner and a hotel. Not the greatest weather--pretty much the same as what I left behind in Wisconsin--cold, windy, and drizzly, but we still had a great day! :)) (And thanks, Susie, for coming out to spend some time with us. It was great to meet you!)
