Four diggers

Another good day of reading and writing interspersed with a Pilates class, a walk to Milk, and some time working in Milk after having lunch with Mr A. I like to have a change of environment for writing and thinking from time to time.

On the way to Milk, I passed by the site of the former Powderhall Waste Transfer facility, which has been demolished. The ground also has to be decontaminated, according to links I've seen online. Together with some currently unused bowling greens on the other side of the path to the river, this is a large space, and the Council is currently consulting on how to use it (probably mostly housing, but other stuff as well). There is also a listed building on the site (the old stables), which may be converted into space for "creatives". Powderhall has an interesting history, having been the location for a gunpowder factory (after which it is named) and more recently a stadium which was famous for greyhound racing, which was demolished and replaced by housing at the end of the last century.
