Winter Solstice

I love the winter solstice because it means that the days will now start getting longer. Today's solstice isn't distinguished by much else because it has been pouring rain since we woke up this morning. I haven't set foot out the door although I did open it and can hear the creek roaring across the street.

We're not exactly wrapping gifts and making mulled wine as Christmas draws nigh, since the flat packs from the emporium were still in my car and demanding attention, and the weather gave us no excuses. Fortunately for us, Dana showed up just in time with Rudy to help with the assembly. Rudy thought we were providing a roomful of boxes, wrapping, little plastic thinigies and interesting wooden bits solely for his enjoyment. I unwrapped the pieces , put the essentials out of Rudy's reach and took the wrappings down to the garage while OilMan and Dana toiled over the assembly puzzle. Ozzie supervised from his bed.

We're all quite pleased with the results and we were able to unpack the last of the boxes in the office, and find places for the contents. All in all a very satisfying way to spend a rainy day. I just turned on the lights on the
Christmas tree to elevate the level of festivity a bit. Maybe we'll get to the mulled wine a little later. Wait, I threw away the mulling spices when we moved because we don't like mulled wine. Maybe we'll listen to some Christmas music on our surroundish sound....
