Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice today.
For those doom mongers who thought the world would end today there should be many more Solstices to come and tomorrow, instead of the world ending, the day will be 3 seconds longer then today.
The continuing gloom in Edinburgh made the actual day light appear shorter then 6 h 57 mins. Today those living in London have 47 minutes more daylight then in Edinburgh and two hours more then Shetland where, for 18 days in December, the sun sets before 3 o'clock. But on June 21 those in Edinburgh can enjoy 10 and a half hours more daylight then today with those in Lerwick having even longer.
