Flowers from the Garden

The Mahonia has erupted into flower. I think they may be good as fillers in flower arrangements. I find the flower heads very attractive. The leaves  at the top of the twigs have turned very red too. As I said yesterday, the apple tree is blooming profusely.

I got up lazily, enjoying a read of Ann Cleeves' last Shetland book. Should probably finish it by Sunday.

Len took Basil for his haircut. Trevor and Jean arrived around 11.30 am. Haven't seen them in years. They look much younger than us despite being older. Their mission is to travel to all the places on their bucket list. They've just come back from Peru.

Trevor recommended that I should travel via ANA to Japan. Reasonable prices and very attentive service, PLUS cheaper than BA. If I ever get the opportunity to take that trip, I shall remember.

At 1 pm, I suddenly remembered that I had to go to Leicester for a mammogram. The nurse told me they had new machines and that they were brutal. I can agree with that. Popped over to the coffee bar at South Entrance, Glenfield, for a latte to console myself afterwards.

Later, Len, Basil and I motored to Hugglescote for a Bring and Buy plant sale in aid of LOROS, hosted by a couple of Len's tennis club colleagues. I made him buy Forget-me-not and Cosmos.
