River of Flowers

I have started waking up at 6 every morning, really annoying but it is so light here! Anyhow, I left MrD sleeping whilst I caught up with replies and visiting a few of your journals. After breakfast we caught the bus out of town to Wildlife Habitat. I'm really not a fan of zoos but I do like seeing creatures up close and this was the perfect place to do just that.

I took loads of pictures as you can imagine: spoonbills, herons, all sorts of parrots, ducks, ibis, wallabies, crocs, koalas, emus, a cassowary and lots of other beautiful creatures.

After a couple of hours I persuaded MrD that it was coffee time and a biccy naturally! Whilst drinking our coffee MrD let out a shriek, the beautiful parrot which had been quietly sitting on a tree had decided that MrD's toes and sandals were food. The parrot pulled chunks out of the sandal soles and had a few exploratory nips of MrD's toes too! Then as if the wasn't enough, a smaller green parakeet appeared and was far more persistent with its pecking, nipped my fingers and toes a few times! We eventually gave in and just left them to it whilst continuing with our walk.

We returned on one of the shuttle buses driven by a man who was born in Birkenhead and a supporter of Tranmere Rovers. There were only 4 of us on the bus, the others were a honeymoon couple from Leamington Spa! The bus driver had aspirations to being a tour guide and gave us an impromptu tour of the town and marina, pointing out good places to eat and for entertainment. We went to one of his recommended eating places this evening and it was really good.

During last night my visitors passed 30,000 - thank you everyone for dropping by, leaving lovely comments and generally just being generous Blippers!

Have a lovely weekend everyone, stay safe and warm x
